Musical Director - Paul L. Riley

 Paul Riley’s musical career has spanned a wide array of musical styles. As a young man he studied and performed with Ronald Baron, principle trombonist of the Boston Symphony orchestra. Paul spent part of his military service as a Marine Bandsman. Working as a freelance musician he performed with, arranged music for and recorded with many popular groups including Darryl Hall & John Oates, Joan Jett, De La Sol, Taylor Dane, The Georgia Satellites, Cheap Trick, NRBQ, Paula Abdul and The Band. His film and television recordings include work for the National Basketball Association, Notre Dame University and Mirimax. Paul is currently the Band Director of Broadview Middle School in Danbury, Connecticut.

 

Fife Instructor – Catherine Cavallo

Catherine Cavallo studied music at Wilkes University in PA;  majored in flute, minor  in voice. Graduate work in Elementary Education at University of New England in ME.  Taught Music in NYS public schools for a dozen years. Currently works for the Paul Effman Music Service, giving private & parochial school children music lessons, teaching band & general music.
Joined the Young Colonials Ancient Fife and Drum Corps in 1977; started teaching, writing, arranging their music in 1983.  Brought the corps to many championships including Northeastern, NYS, & CT State.  Won numerous individual, duet & quartet championships during junior & senior fife & drum career.  Founder of The Regulators Ancient Fife and Drum Corps, Dover NY in 1996.
Sings & plays flute at weddings. Plays  flute, fife, whistle & sings with a small folk group, The Contemporary Revolution.

 

Percussion Instructor – Bill Dillon

Bill Dillon is a well-recognized percussionist with an impressive history among the drum corps world in the New England area. Bill is a certified judge and is involved with teaching other drum corps as well as  private students. Bill brings a well-versed background in rudimental and melodic percussion.

 

Trumpet Instructor -Laura Telman

Laura Telman joined the Danbury Drum Corps as trumpet instructor in January of this year.  Laura is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.  She hails from an active playing career in many of the area’s recognized youth music programs, including the Connecticut Youth Symphony, Regional and All-State concert and jazz bands, and the BU Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, MA.  While continuing to perform regularly with many local performing groups, she satiates her passion for teaching with a small studio of young trumpet students.

 

Asst. Musical Director – Mike Bogues

Mike Bogues is an accomplished trumpet and baritone player with over 20 years of active service with the drum corps. Mike is heavily involved with the selection of the corps repertoire, giving individual and section lessons. Mike is also involved with teaching several other corps in the area and is certified as a Judge by the Greater Danbury Area Drum Corps Association.
